Tyler Artz is from Redfield, South Dakota. He graduated with his Bachelors of Science in Mining Engineering & Management in 2015 and his Masters of Science in Mining Engineering in 2016. He currently works for RESPEC in Rapid City, SD in their Mining & Energy division working with the Mine Geomechanics team. His projects consist of mine stability, geohazard monitoring, and R&D projects for the Department of Engery. He is the chair for the Student Engagement Committee which helps connect students with alumni and bring alumni back to the University as resources. He also serves on the Board of Directors for SD Mines Triangle Fraternity and the Rapid City Summer Nights. Tyler enjoys donating his time back to the campus, supporting his community, and spending time with his dog Pepper. If he’s not working, he’s enjoying the Black Hills outdoors.
