RAPID CITY, SD (March 25, 2025) – South Dakota Mines, together with the Center for Alumni Relations and Advancement (CARA) recently hosted its third annual Raising for Rockers giving day. The 24-hour fundraising event brought in over $162,000 from over 250 donors to provide immediate support for the South Dakota Mines campus and academic departments.
“We’ve seen an incredible outpouring of support from alumni, friends, and the greater Mines community,” said Director of Annual Giving Bailey Ellis. “This generosity is a true testament to the pride and loyalty people have for South Dakota Mines. Every gift contributes to meaningful opportunities that help students grow, innovate, and prepare for their future.”
Raising for Rockers focuses on providing support to academic departments, ensuring faculty and students have access to the resources they need to excel. This year, the event supported 18 different initiatives. These ranged from student professional development, to enhancing learning environments, to providing students with hands-on experience.
Alumni, students, faculty, staff, and university supporters were able to select which initiative best suited for their giving interests.
“The funds raised during Raising for Rockers make an immediate and lasting impact on our Atmospheric and Environmental Science students,” said Professor Dr. William Capehart. “These gifts provide invaluable resources, from career development to networking opportunities at conferences.
