RAPID CITY, SD (Feb. 18, 2025) – South Dakota Mines, together with the Center for Alumni Relations and Advancement, is gearing up for its annual Raising for Rockers giving day, set to take place from noon-to-noon Feb. 20 and 21, 2025. This 24-hour fundraising initiative brings together alumni, students, faculty, staff, and supporters to make an immediate impact on the university and its academic departments.

Raising for Rockers focuses on providing support to academic departments, ensuring faculty and students have access to the resources they need to excel. This year, the event will highlight 18 different department-driven initiatives. These initiatives range from student professional development, to enhancing learning environments, to providing students with hands-on experience.

In addition to fundraising efforts, Raising for Rockers will feature a scavenger hunt for students, adding an exciting and interactive element to the day to promote a greater understanding of the important role philanthropy plays on campus. The university will also reveal a newly redesigned Grubby logo throughout the event, celebrating a fresh look for the beloved mascot and encouraging engagement.

“Our academic departments are at the core of student success,” said Bailey Ellis, director of annual giving at South Dakota Mines Center for Alumni Relations and Advancement. “Raising for Rockers allows our community to invest directly in the programs that make a difference in education and innovation.”

Donors can contribute to specific departments and initiatives that align with their passions, helping fund essential resources that shape the future of South Dakota Mines. Every gift, no matter the size, makes a difference in helping students and faculty reach new heights.

Supporters can visit raisingforrockers.sdsmt.edu to explore the featured department initiatives and make a gift during the event. Throughout the 24 hours, the university will share impact stories, donor challenges, and live updates on social media using #RaisingForRockers2025.
